January 2025 - new beginnings
Happy January ! A new year full of new plans and opportunities !
First and foremost, I want to offer a heartfelt thank you for all the love we've received for our latest release, "Please Come Home." I’m honestly overwhelmed by the response. I wasn’t sure what people would think, since writing a Christmas song is such a challenge, and even for me, it took time to feel truly happy with it. So, thank you. I’m also really glad I followed through and made the commitment to release it, despite my fears.
December was so crazy for us —busy, positive, and fun, but by the end of it, we were both absolutely exhausted! Kevin and I have this tradition of going for a seaweed bath on New Year’s Day, and it always feels like the perfect way to reset. I had just come out of a run of 4 gigs with the Mass Band, along with lots of Christmas festivities and other LaGracia gigs before that, so I was wrecked. On top of that, we’d both been feeling under the weather for a few days, making the bath even more needed. It’s such a great way to unwind and take a moment to reflect on the month and the year that’s passed.
Although it’s not my favourite time of year, I January is a perfect time to start over and think about your goals and plans. I didn't make specific resolutions this year but I have general goals and intentions that I want to work towards.
One important life goal that comes up several times during the year is health. Health and a good routine are big priorities for both of us. We both occasionally struggle with sleep as a result of gigging, we would like to be more consistent with our exercise and food and to reduce our alcohol intake. This month we have prioritised home cooking, going to the gym and we are doing dry January. Over half way now ! A healthy body helps to keep the mind focused and increases energy for being creative and performing to the best of our abilities.
Last year I set the goal of recording our album. Although we made a start, but we didn’t quite end up make the progress we had hoped. However, we are determined to be a lot more proactive about it this year. We realised that unless you have concrete plans, life often gets in the way, so we are committing to more regular rehearsal and studio sessions.
Releasing music by the end of last year was really important to me, and it showed me what is possible with the right mind frame and commitment. These achievements make me really happy and I look forward to being able to release music more frequently.
We are about to start recording our song “Begin Again” to symbolise the start of the year. This is a special song for us and it needs a big uplifting ending with a gospel feel so we will be looking for some singers to be involved to help us achieve this. Please get in touch if you’re interested in being part of it.
In the meantime if there are any live versions of songs that you’d love to hear, (original or covers), please get in touch and we will make sure to put them on our setlist or do a live recording of them !
Wishing you all an amazing 2025 ! I look forward to what it will bring :-)
