Happy Hump Day
I was watching some of Gemma Sugrue’s (voice and business coach) YouTube content over the weekend and what she says always resonates with me.
She was talking about sharing your talent and said that “you owe it to yourself and to others to share your art and your talents”. Don’t hide it away just because you’re scared or you’re a perfectionist.
People deserve to hear and see what you do. There will be someone out there who will really resonate with what you’re doing. Even if it is only one person it is completely worth it.
What would you miss out on if you never did share? And what would others miss out on if you didn’t?
We can all easily procrastinate and be shy about these things but we literally only live once so why wait?
That is exactly why we promised ourselves that we would record our album this year ! It’s about damn time!
In life and relationships sometimes we can sometimes feel stuck, like we have lost the ability to make an effort, or to be able to progress or move forward.
In our song “Be Without Me”, we touch on the idea that we should take risks, follow our hearts and not let opportunities pass us by, in life, romance or otherwise. Ironic that we wrote it during the pandemic when it was hard to do anything at all! But I think that period of time really made you realise how short life is and how we don’t know what’s around the corner.
We are so scared of so many silly things, so this week I invite you all to be a little bit brave and do something outside your comfort zones. What will you do ?
We are back in the studio this evening to record our song “Walls” - this one pulls at my own heartstrings and I sometimes find it hard not to shed a tear while performing it live.
I figure if it makes me feel that way maybe it will resonate with others too. Why does it make me cry ? The words, the meaning, the melody, the real feelings behind the song. I don’t tend to get into exactly what our songs are about, I prefer to let you all find your own meaning in it.
But real emotions are so important in our songwriting. Even if it isn’t specifically about us, or one of us, I can always empathise with the stories and feelings. Empathy is one of my superpowers. It makes me cry sometimes, but being able to feel is a life skill, and it helps me to write from other people’s perspectives .
